From First Dates to “I Do”: Kyle & Lauren’s Downtown Providence Engagement Session

Some love stories are just meant to be captured from the very beginning—and Kyle and Lauren’s is one of them.

I still remember the first time I photographed these two. It was during the early stages of their relationship, when everything was new, sweet, and full of promise. Since then, I’ve had the absolute joy of documenting so many of their milestones—from casual couple shoots to the proposal—and now, their engagement session. And soon? I get to stand behind the lens on one of the biggest days of their lives: their wedding. To say I’m honored would be an understatement.

For their engagement session, Kyle and Lauren chose the vibrant, urban charm of downtown Providence as our backdrop. If you’ve ever wandered the streets of this city, you know how much character it has—historic buildings, cobblestone corners, and romantic pockets of greenery tucked between the bustle. It was the perfect place to capture their energy as a couple: playful, stylish, and full of love.

We wandered the city together, laughing between shots, stopping wherever the mood struck—whether it was in front of a mural, on a quiet side street, or in a hotel.

One of the things I love most about Kyle and Lauren is how natural they are together. Their connection is effortless, and it comes through in every photo. They’re the kind of couple who make each other laugh mid-pose, who don’t mind dancing on the sidewalk, and who turn a simple look into a moment that feels straight out of a movie.

There’s something really special about being invited into a couple’s journey over the years. Watching them grow together, support each other, and now plan a life together—it’s the reason I fell in love with photography in the first place.
