Lindsay & Ian’s

Secret Botanical Garden Elopement at New England Botanic Garden

at Tower Hill

Some weddings are big celebrations filled with hundreds of guests, loud dance floors, and packed timelines. And then there are weddings like Lindsay and Ian’s—quiet, intentional, deeply personal, and full of meaning in a way that only an intimate elopement can be.

Lindsay and Ian chose to get married surrounded by nature at the beautiful botanical gardens at Tower Hill. Instead of planning a large traditional wedding, they decided to do something incredibly special: they got married with just the two of them present. No audience. No pressure. Just the two of them making promises to each other in one of the most peaceful settings imaginable.

But their day held an even bigger secret.

Not only were they getting married, but they were also expecting their first baby together. Their elopement photos would eventually become part of an amazing surprise announcement for their family and friends—revealing both their marriage and their pregnancy at the same time. It’s hard to think of a sweeter or more memorable way to share such life-changing news.

There was something incredibly beautiful about documenting a moment that was both the beginning of their marriage and the beginning of their journey into parenthood. The excitement, the quiet joy, and the way they looked at each other made it clear that this chapter of their lives is going to be something truly special.

Photographing this day also meant a lot to me personally.

I first met Lindsay and Ian at Ian’s brother’s wedding, where they were both part of the bridal party. Getting to see them again—this time on their own wedding day—was such an honor. When they reached out and asked me to photograph their elopement, it honestly meant the world to me. There’s something incredibly meaningful about couples trusting you again after you’ve already shared in an important moment with their family.

From the quiet garden paths to the soft natural light filtering through the trees, everything about the day felt calm and intentional. Without the rush of a big wedding timeline, Lindsay and Ian were able to slow down and simply soak in the moment together.

Elopements like this are a reminder that there’s no single “right” way to get married. Sometimes the most powerful celebrations are the smallest ones—the ones focused entirely on love, connection, and the life two people are about to build together.

Lindsay and Ian’s day was exactly that: simple, meaningful, and full of joy.
