Some sessions hold a little extra meaning, and Selena and Joe’s engagement session in the Azores was one I will always remember. Not only was I documenting such a special season of their love story, but I was also returning to an island that holds so much personal history for me.
I had the honor of photographing Selena and Joe’s engagement session at the breathtaking Sete Cidades on São Miguel Island in the Azores, Portugal. Surrounded by dramatic volcanic landscapes, lush greenery, and the iconic twin lakes, the location felt like the perfect reflection of their love — peaceful, adventurous, and timeless. Every view across the landscape felt more beautiful than the last, creating a truly unforgettable backdrop for their photos.
Getting to capture this chapter of their story was even more meaningful because I will also have the honor of photographing Selena and Joe’s wedding day. Being able to document their journey from their engagement session to their celebration as they begin their next chapter together is something I never take for granted.
The Azores hold a very special place in my heart. My family is from this beautiful island, so returning to São Miguel felt like coming home. Being able to combine my passion for photography with a place that is so connected to my family’s history made this experience incredibly meaningful. The island’s natural beauty, rich culture, and peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect setting to celebrate Selena and Joe’s love.
From the rolling green hills and volcanic landscapes to the quiet moments shared overlooking Sete Cidades, this engagement session was filled with so much emotion and beauty. I am beyond grateful to have been part of this unforgettable experience and cannot wait to continue telling Selena and Joe’s story through their wedding day.
