SHEILA TORRES PHOTOGRAPHY
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Newborn sessions take place when the baby is 1 to 2 weeks old.
- Newborn sessions are typically 2-3 hours long. It all depends on how your baby is
feeling that day. I do not recommend booking any other appointments right after
your session.
- Enjoy this “free” time. I have a living room area to rest and watch TV.
- I will occasionally have a parent assist me during some poses as a spotter.
Baby safety is ALWAYS number one in my studio. I will let you know when I help
is needed.
- The studio is kept to about 75-80 degrees at all times, so I recommend bringing
layers that can be easily taken off for you, your spouse, and your children.
- I have everything needed for your newborn session. Outfits, wraps, props, hats,
bonnets. If there is a sentimental item you would like to include, please let me
know ahead of time so I can plan a setup around the item.
- If you have other children who will be photographed, I recommend that another adult drop them off at the end of the session when it is time for sibling portraits, or they are more than welcome to hang around! Be sure to bring toys and snacks for them!
- Family photos and sibling photos are taken at the end of the session. (This is
optional and discussed with me during booking. Newborn photos of the baby are
my priority.
WHAT TO WEAR
-I recommend having the newborn dressed in a front-opening, like a front zip onesie.
- Please do not dress the baby in anything that will need to be removed up and over their head. Less movement to wake the baby is best.
- For family portraits, I recommend wearing neutral colors.
(whites, browns, tans, beige)
-Family photos are taken on a bed for a more lifestyle feel.
HOW TO PREPARE
- Have the baby awake before the session. Running a bath would be helpful.
-Please feed the baby right before coming so they are extra sleepy, full, and ready to go upon arrival.
IN THE STUDIO
I keep wipes, disposable diaper bags, and diapers in the studio.
WHAT TO BRING
- Pacifier (the most IMPORTANT item I will need you to bring). I know many newborns might not use them at first, but this helps me throughout the session to soothe the baby.
- Spare diapers
- Spare formula
- Loose wrap to feed in
- Lunch/Snacks/Drinks for yourself
